THIS is my Friday column. I know it’s not Friday anymore but since this column is posted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and I wasn’t able to write for Friday, then, this is the Friday column.
And why the delay? Because life happens. Friday morning would have been the next possible time to write and email this at least before midnight so our Editor-in-Chief Cong Corrales could post it within the day.
No one should ever be too busy that he forgets about what he truly wants in life. But priorities are first on the to-do list as the favorite things begin to occupy the bottom of the list in order to make everything possible.
Ding, ang bato! Darna! These are now my favorite words. Or should it be, Wonder Woman. Captain Marvel. Supergirl.
And I’m not referring to me but to women who have survived through the most difficult obstacles and challenges in life. They do have their own coping mechanisms, which may empower or destroy them, but who are we to judge them, especially since we are not them. Even if two women have experienced an exact same situation, how they deal with it won’t be the same. That’s why the reminder to never be judgmental.
“Sh*t happens” used to be my favorite expression. Now, it’s simply, Life happens. And the most important moment is right now. Past is past. The future is out there. But I have now. And for now, I’m writing this. It’s Saturday, 6:27 am. The weather is cool, thanks to the electric fan. The tummy wants breakfast but I’m ignoring it. One meal a day—OMAD—is still my preferred sked since my mind is clearer when I’m fasting.
As for the future, I think I’ll have bangus belly paksiw, pork pata humba, and boiled eggs for dinner, which will be at 4:20, er, 4:30 pm. Plus Royal Tru Orange Zero Sugar. Oops.
Yes, Royal Tru Orange now has a Zero Sugar version. And the low-carb dieter is happy. Indulgence pa more.
Sugar-free soda is not exactly allowed, but some low-carb doctors say that at least it’s better than the regular kind.
The problem with anything that tastes sweet is it awakens cravings for sweets. So, it’s sugar-free soda today, and sugar-free coffee tomorrow, and sugar-free cake on the next day. Eventually, the low-carb dieter will be eating goodies with real sugar, with the justification that it’s only once in a blue moon, anyway. Yeah, right.
My body now reacts more to any food that it doesn’t like. And I’m suspecting the sugar-free soda is the current culprit. Hand allergies. Edema in the feet and ankles. Whew.
So, back to animal products. How about leather? Hmmm.
For one, I don’t like leather bags because they’re heavy. And here’s another reason: if your bags, shoes, wallets, belts, and other leather items didn’t deteriorate during the pandemic lockdowns, then, you’re one lucky leather lover.
Leather cracks and peels if it’s forgotten inside the closet. Like some people, a leather product has to come out of the closet so it can breathe and feel the love.
That’s why beef, pork, fish, eggs, butter, and cream cheese are my preferred animal products. Yum!
As for 420, today is April 20.
As for the item connected with 420, unfortunately, it’s not an animal product.
