PT&T, a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines, has joined forces with NetLinkz, an Australian technology solutions company, to bring SpaceX’s Starlink service to Filipino consumers this year. This strategic partnership aims to provide stable and high-speed internet access to businesses and individuals in remote areas, opening up a world of possibilities in the digital realm.
Starlink, powered by low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology, offers broadband connectivity to underserved regions. Through the PT&T-NetLinkz collaboration, Filipinos living in areas where traditional broadband services are limited or unavailable can now access reliable and affordable internet solutions.
“We are pleased to introduce Starlink in the Philippines, offering our customers the connectivity they need with a reliable internet solution,” said James G. Velasquez, President and CEO of PT&T. “Our partnership with NetLinkz enables us to provide high-speed internet access to underserved regions, empowering individuals and businesses.”
One of the key advantages of Starlink services, provided by NetLinkz through the PT&T partnership, is the potential to reduce the cost of internet connection in remote areas. While the final price has yet to be determined, Miguel Marco, EVP and COO of PT&T, assured the public that it will be competitive.
The official launch of the Starlink service in collaboration with PT&T is expected in mid-July. Interested customers in the Philippines can get Starlink kits directly from PT&T. Monthly plans are available, with data caps ranging from 50 gigabytes to 6 terabytes. These plans offer maximum download speeds of up to 350 megabytes per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of up to 40 Mbps.
“We are proud to partner with PT&T to bring Starlink to the Philippines,” said James Tsiolis, Managing Director and CEO of NetLinkz. “This collaboration is in line with our mission to provide innovative and secure network solutions. We are excited to contribute to the digital transformation of the country, empowering Filipinos with advanced capabilities in internet.”
With this collaboration, PT&T and NetLinkz aim to bridge the digital divide in the Philippines, ensuring that even remote areas have access to fast and reliable internet connections. The introduction of Starlink services in the country marks a significant step towards a more inclusive and empowered digital society.
