Join in Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) for an engaging performance of PPO Youth Concert. This special event showcases the unique talent of CCP’s young music scholars: flutist Mark Kennedy Rocas, violinist Adrian Nicolas Ong, and pianist Aidan Baracol. Be a part of this musical journey on July 7 at 4 pm at Samsung Performing Arts Theater.

Due to the ongoing rehabilitation of the CCP Main Building, this concert marks the PPO’s first appearance at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater. By partnering with various performing arts venues, CCP ensures that Filipino and international audiences can continue to enjoy world-class shows and programs.
Under the guidance of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, the esteemed PPO will accompany these young musicians in a repertoire that includes Jacques Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld Overture, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. The Piano Concerto No. 2 by Rachmaninoff.
Mark Kenedy Rocas, from Cavite, discovered his passion for the flute when he was young. He honed his skills at the Philippine High School for the Arts and holds a music degree from the UP College of Music. Rocas has garnered many honors, including winning the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Woodwind Category C. He is currently the assistant principal flute of the UP Symphony Orchestra.

Adrian Nicolas Ong, recipient of a scholarship to the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, has gained recognition as a talented violinist. He performed with the PPO under former music director Yoshikazu Fukumura and made his Carnegie Hall debut at the Weill Recital Hall. Ong remains connected to the Philippines through his involvement with the FilAm Music Foundation and the Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP). He also teaches young musicians and continues to excel in international competitions.

Aidan Ezra Baracol’s musical journey began with the drums before moving to the piano. He studied under esteemed teachers and earned many awards and distinctions in local and international piano competitions. Baracol’s extraordinary talent has earned him recognition at events such as the PPO 50th Anniversary Gala Concert, where he performed with renowned pianist Raul Sunico.
