A 65-year-old resident of Lanao del Norte was arrested for facing statutory rape on Monday, this week.
Police Provincial Director Sandy Vales said the suspect was identified as Mineheart Arobo, a widower.
The suspect was arrested through a joint operation conducted by the personnel of the Maigo Municipal Police Station, elements of the Regional Intelligence Unit-10, and 1st Police Mobile Force Company while in the public market of that town.
Arobo was arrested through an arrest warrant issued by Judge Mylene Amerol-Macumbal, acting presiding judge of the 10th Judicial Region, Iligan City Branch.
“The consistent commitment of Philippine Police personnel to uphold the law and provide justice to victims of criminal acts maintains peace and order within the province. I urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their area,” said Vales.
