PACKED lunch and P1,000 in cash await the 700 clients set to take advantage of the services offered by the Cagayan de Oro City Hall’s ‘People’s Day’ program, a record number that coincides with the celebration of the 70th birthday of Mayor Rolando Uy.
In accordance with the observance of Eid al Adha on Wednesday as a national holiday, the City Hall continued the ‘People’s Day’ program one hour after the birthday Mass was held at the City Hall quadrangle for Mayor Uy and his family which was attended by City Hall employee. Before the 8 a.m. Mass, Uy and his staff also distributed food packs to the patients of the city-owned JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH).
Free wheelchairs and crutches were also given to 15 people who are mostly from the hinterland barangays of the city during the ‘People’s Day’ program.
In his monthly message to the bureaucracy at City Hall in the first flag-raising program for July, Mayor Uy confirmed that his family also returned to their tradition of allocating P1,000 fuel allowance to 1,000 taxi drivers.

“As for myself, I have no other wish other than good health and safety for me and my family,” said the mayor of Visayas.
If anything, Mayor Uy asked the City Hall bureaucracy on Monday to continue praying for his good health ‘so that he may continue to serve the people of Cagayan de Oro’ during his term.
Also on Monday morning, Uy announced that he is scheduled to meet with Senator Imee Marcos who is said to meet with the clients served by the ‘People’s Day’ program in the quadrangle.
Since the launch of the ‘People’s Day’ program in August last year, Mayor Uy’s administration has averaged at least 300 clients every Wednesday from morning to afternoon.
The clients of ‘People’s Day’ are mostly urban residents of Cagayan de Oro City and even hinterland barangays who usually seek financial, educational, medical, and housing assistance from City Hall.
At the launch of the ‘People’s Day’ program in conjunction with the ‘Klarex Nga Servisyo Sa Baryo (KSB)’ outreach program held every Saturday, Mayor Uy emphasized the commitment of his administration to make City Hall services more accessible to the public, including it will be delivered to their doors.
