GINGOOG City Councilor Dr Jerome Magan, chair of the committee on health, campaigned for the use of condoms for protection against sexually-transmitted diseases such as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) which is reported to be on the rise in the city.
“Always use a condom for your protection against AIDS,” Magan said in an interview on Friday.
As a doctor, Magan believes that condom use is best for preventing sexually transmitted diseases.
Currently, there are more than 50 people infected with AIDS and three have died from the same disease, said Magan.
50 people with AIDS volunteered to be tested, Magan added.
He believes that there will be more in the city.
“They are just shy and afraid to come close AIDS testing,” said Magan.
