I do NOT need more credit cards. I am not interested in your product samples. I will not buy a car or a condo unit. These are some of the things I might end up with if I entertain all the offers from the sales people, even if my purpose in visiting a mall is to have some R&R.
I think a friend bought a condo unit after listening to a pre-selling pitch for a new uptown condo in Cagayan de Oro. He went to the mall for the usual shopping but instead became a condo-unit owner.
Better start practicing KISS—Keep It Simple and Simpler—so you can avoid such offers.
KISS should be the mantra for life and work and everything else: makeup, sleep, food, shopping, and possessions.
But the no makeup look may not be the perfect example for KISS because you can spend hours on makeup in such a way that your face looks like there is no makeup on. Confused? It’s okay. Let’s rephrase that. The no-makeup makeup look only enhances what is there instead of changing the face until you are unrecognizable to family, friends, and colleagues.
I don’t know how to do makeup, so I bought a user-friendly brand to simplify the process. But even after a few minutes of hard work, my face still looks bare. Yes, it is very easy for me to achieve the no-makeup makeup look. Haha. However, blemishes, wrinkles, and eye bags need to be covered under concealer and foundation or else I can’t sleep.
I have reached a certain age where I wake up before 5 am even after a sleepless night. Wait, how to wake up after a sleepless night? Hmmm.
In the morning, the baggage in my eyes was darker and bigger. It could be because of the sleepless night or because I’m on dirty keto again.
Dirty keto refers to low-carb foods, processed foods, vegetable oils, artificial sweeteners, and ingredients that are difficult to pronounce. Whether it’s low-carb or high-carb, ingredients that aren’t declared should have “caution” signs on them.
But once you start focusing on the basics—meat, pork, chicken, fish, eggs—a clean low-carb diet becomes easier to manage. And that also results in a lower budget for food because intermittent fasting is possible once proteins and fats fill the stomach. Imagine eating just two meals a day (TMAD), with no snacks—lots of savings there.
With TMAD or even one meal a day aka OMAD, it’s like you’re eating food that’s going through its own spring cleaning. The urge to declutter will then become second nature to you because the clear mind that results from intermittent fasting will now help you distinguish the essentials from the non-essentials.
Requirements are in the eyes of the beholder, however. Makeup, for example, is important to those who cannot leave the house bare-faced.
My essentials are always books, stationery, and food. But I have reduced the number of books on the shelves, and also my food choices. These are the writing supplies that are hard to keep down because I like to buy them in bulk.
