The Misamis Oriental Provincial Tourism Council and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)-10 are working together to support tourist establishments in obtaining Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECCs) and ensuring continued compliance with environmental regulations.
During the second quarterly meeting of the council, the importance of protecting the environment was emphasized along with the provincial plans for the development of tourism.

Stanley Uriarte, the head of the Misamis Oriental Provincial Planning and Development Office, emphasized the need for balanced growth that preserves the integrity of the environment.
ECCs outline specific measures and conditions that project proponents must take to minimize environmental impacts.
Currently, Misamis Oriental has 3,451 ECCs out of a total of 7,748 in Northern Mindanao.
In addition, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Oriental plans to reactivate its Business Centers in the province, focusing on helping Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The DTI-Misamis Oriental will also collaborate with the Misamis Oriental Hotel and Restaurant Association (MOHARA) to support interested members in enhancing their capacity and developing their products.
The council’s efforts to boost tourism in the province include the Agutayan Island Development Project, holding a public hearing on the Flight 387 Shrine fees, and participating in tourism benchmarking activities.
