COMMUNITY Improvement Division, led by Officer-in-Charge Honorio G. Diputado Jr., in collaboration with the Cooperative Development Authority Region 10, successfully held a Business Continuity Management seminar for various officers and members of the cooperative in Cagayan de Oro on July 19, this year.
City Administrator lawyer Roy Hilario P. Raagas, representing Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, expressed great gratitude for the continuous and strong partnership between the CDA and the local government in empowering and educating the members of the cooperative.
“This collaboration aims to improve their skills and knowledge to build strong businesses,” said Raagas.
Raagas also emphasized that the Mayor’s RISE development agenda includes a strong focus on economic recovery, where the cooperative mechanism plays a major role in driving the development of the city.

“Recognizing the potential impact of cooperatives on the local economy, their joint efforts contribute to the overall growth and stability of Cagayan de Oro,” said.
By promoting business continuity management practices, as discussed in the seminar, cooperatives are equipped to face and recover from various challenges and disruptions.
“This proactive approach ensures that businesses can continue to operate effectively and efficiently, even in times of uncertainty,” Raagas said.
Meanwhile, the chief of staff of the City Mayor’s Office, Shiela Lumbatan, said that through the economic recovery initiatives of the RISE agenda, Mayor Uy’s goal is to support and empower cooperatives and businesses in Cagayan de Oro.
Earlier, Lumbatan said that by strengthening the cooperative mechanism and providing resources for training and development, the city is developing an environment conducive to business growth, stability, and overall economic development.
In addition, Lumbatan said that Mayor Uy’s RISE agenda recognizes the important role of cooperatives in the economic recovery of Cagayan de Oro.
Recognizing the impact of new challenges, especially in the economy, Lumbatan emphasized the need for a strong economic recovery plan.
In the recent State of the City speech by the mayor, according to Lumbatan, Uy explained that the city will work towards creating an environment that supports businesses, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
This may include attracting investments, supporting local industries, providing training and skill development programs, and promoting tourism and other sectors that contribute to economic growth, Lumbatan explained.
By focusing on economic recovery, he added that the city aims to revitalize its economy, create employment opportunities, and improve the overall well-being of its residents. Uy emphasized.
He added that the Business Continuity Management seminar sponsored by the Community Improvement Division and the Cooperative Development Authority Region 10 is a testament to the commitment of the city government to provide the necessary tools and knowledge to the members of the cooperative.
“Through these efforts, Cagayan de Oro continues to develop as a strong and prosperous city,” said Lumbatan.
“He (Uy) emphasized the importance of the role of the city as a regional leader,” said Lumbatan.
This includes active collaboration with neighboring cities and towns to promote economic growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable development in the region, according to Lumbatan.
