British singer-songwriter James Arthur has gone viral in the Philippines with the growing popularity of “Car’s Outside,” an old song from his 2019 album, YOU.
The surge in demand stems from the piano-driven ballad’s resurgence on the short-form video app TikTok. To date, the catchy ditty has garnered more than 500,000 videos on TikTok alone, including the original and sped-up versions combined.
“Car’s Outside” also proved popular on streaming, as it debuted at No. 34 on Spotify Philippines’ Chart, becoming one of the surprise hits of 2023.
Elsewhere in Asia, the track achieved success on similar platforms, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia, where it entered the Top 10 of the Spotify overall charts in each country.
Aside from “Car’s Outside,” James Arthur also received impressive traction in the region, especially with his cover of Christina Perri’s hit, “A Thousand Years.” Both songs climbed into the top 5 of James Arthur’s most popular songs on Spotify and continue to climb many music charts around the world—thanks to their viral appeal and relatable message.
