IN an impressive display of dedication to workplace safety, Aboitiz Construction has achieved a remarkable milestone.
Until June 2023, the company has logged 10 million safe man-hours with no lost time injuries at Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation in Claver, Surigao del Norte.
This achievement spans from 2012 to the second half of 2023.
The milestone is a direct result of the company’s continued commitment to occupational health and safety.

Aboitiz Construction consistently implements safety programs and maintains open communication with partners to ensure this outcome.
“This milestone shows our dedication to operational excellence and the safety of our team,” said Alex Garciano, Aboitiz Construction Vice President for Operations Maintenance, speaking of this achievement.
“We always remind our team about safety, making sure they get home safely to their families,” he said.
To encourage a safety culture, the project site regularly conducts safety awareness training, emergency drills, site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and daily meetings to discuss safety matters.
These initiatives are consistent with the company’s compliance with the 45001: 2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) standard, a testament to consistent health and safety performance.
The THPAL Assistant Manager of the Maintenance Department, Ryan Huervas, congratulated Aboitiz Construction’s Maintenance Team for their accomplishment.
“We recognize your continued commitment to incident prevention and your analysis of safety programs,” he said adding: “Continue your dedication to safe work practices and participation in awareness and prevention activities.”
This milestone serves as a testament to Aboitiz Construction’s commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and productive work environment for all its team members and stakeholders.
