Known as the “God of Manga” thanks to his unique storytelling, Osamu Tezuka’s seminal series gets a new adaptation, taking viewers on an exciting extraterrestrial adventure with Romi and his partner George. They embark on a journey to escape the troubles of Earth and find a new beginning in Eden17, a promised utopian-like planet. However, their dreams are shattered when they arrive to find a desolate frontier incapable of sustaining human life. With limited options, Romi enters a malfunctioning hibernation pod, waking up 1,300 years later in a city built by his son Cain’s descendants. While being treated like a queen by the inhabitants of Eden17, she felt lonely and decided to return to Earth in search of solace among the stars.
Showcasing the voice talents of Rie Miyazawa as Romi, Yosuke Kubozuka like George, Honoka Yoshida as Com, and Issey Ogata as Zudarban, a space entrepreneur, “PHOENIX: EDEN17” is managed by Shojiro Nishimi, known for works such as “Tekkonkinkreet” and “Mutafukaz,” and produced by STUDIO4 ℃. The character design was led by the chief animation director Tatsuzou Nishita, with art direction by Shinji Kimura, and a captivating musical score composed by Takatsugu Muramatsu.
