The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Monday (Jul. 10) reestablished its partnership with Nissan Philippines, Inc. through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to implement the program called Drive Pinas.
The Drive Pinas initiative is a product of the long-standing relationship between Nissan and DOT under the joint vision of promoting local tourism and showcasing scenic tourist spots throughout the country. With the use of Nissan vehicles through driveable journeys, Drive Pinas aims to make travel a more exciting, inclusive, and sustainable experience for locals and tourists alike.

Representing Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco at the MOA signing event held at Okada Manila, DOT Undersecretary Myra Paz-Abubakar expressed gratitude to Nissan Philippines for their steadfast partnership and commitment to achieving the shared goal of showcasing the unique beauty of the Philippines to the world.
“Our country is full of hidden gems, places that have yet to be fully explored and experienced. Drive Pinas will shine a spotlight on these unique locations, enabling travelers to discover their magic, immerse themselves in local culture, and create unforgettable memories,” Secretary Frasco said in a speech given by Undersecretary Paz-Abubakar at the MOA signing event.
Giving his opening speech, Nissan Philippines Inc. President Juan Manuel Hoyos also shared his excitement about the new partnership with the DOT, saying that “While the Department of Tourism already has a strong vision to make locals and tourists fall in love with the Philippines even more- as I do- Nissan supports this vision with our commitment to making the new vehicles and technologies to increase the excitement of these journeys, all while leaving a positive impact on society and the environment.”
To mark, in the last eight years, Nissan Philippines Inc. and the DOT have collaborated on several projects such as the ‘Visit the Philippines, Drive to Discover with Nissan’ campaign, and more recently, the ‘Safe Trips’ campaign that aims to promote local destinations and develop the journey home even amid the pandemic.
