International cruise company based in Florida Carnival Cruise Line (Carnival), and its local partner, United Philippine Lines (UPL), opened a state-of-the-art two-level facility called UPL-Carnival Team Member Center in response to the growing global demand for seafarers as the industry recovers from the effects of the pandemic.
“Since the UPL-Carinval TM Center is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment and well-trained staff, Filipinos looking to explore the world as sailing talents can expect an easy and efficient application and training process. We guarantee a smooth sailing from the start,” said vice president of Carnival Cruise Line Crew and Travel Operations Richard Brearley.
Carnival set up the training hub within the STI Pass-EDSA campus, which is said to be a location accessible to students taking courses related to hospitality, tourism, culinary programs, marine transportation, and marine engineering.
UPL and Carnival are working together to help potential Filipino seafarers have a smooth career journey from graduation from maritime school until they board a Carnival cruise ship.
Louise Araneta-Marcos, the First Lady of the Philippinesattended the inauguration ceremony of the said facility.
